Arul also said he had pledged to provide all the necessary information and access to documentation needed to assist with the audit of its accounts.
“As announced recently, upon the instructions of the prime minister, the Auditor-General has commenced an independent review of 1MDB’s accounts.
“As part of this process, I have personally met with the Auditor-General and assured him of 1MDB’s full cooperation.
“Furthermore, 1MDB will ensure that the Auditor-General and his department are provided with the necessary information and access to documentation to ensure that a full and thorough review can be undertaken in a timely manner,” Arul said in an email reply to the Malay Mail Online.
The recently-appointed 1MDB chief also said the firm will not be issuing any further statement until the audit is concluded.
Earlier today, Petaling Jaya Utara DAP lawmaker Tony Pua invited Arul to speak at a public forum on 1MDB this Sunday, saying this was a good chance for Arul to rebut any allegations levelled against the firm.
“Given this on-going process, 1MDB will not be making any statements regarding the company’s operations or activities that are subject to this review,” he said.
The forum titled “1MDB: The Ultimate Low-Down” will be held March 15 at 3pm at the Crystal Crown Hotel, with Pua and PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli to appear as speakers.
Recently Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak ordered the A-G’s department to audit 1MDB’s accounts following allegations of financial impropriety.
The prime minister also sits on 1MDB’s advisory board.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar also announced that a task force comprising officials from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate all complaints against 1MDB.
He said yesterday that the police probe would only commence if the A-G uncovers discrepancies or any indication of wrongdoing.
